What does “full coverage” actually include?
The short answer
For auto insurance, “full coverage” is shorthand, not a promise that every loss is covered. Ask for the actual coverages, limits, deductibles, and exclusions instead of relying on that label.
Liability addresses covered harm you cause to others. Collision addresses damage to your vehicle from a crash; comprehensive addresses covered non-collision losses, such as theft or hail. Other items, including rental reimbursement, uninsured-motorist protection, or a remaining loan balance after a total loss, need their own check. Do not assume they are included.
What you can check privately
Use the declarations page as a starting inventory, then check the policy wording for the situation you care about. When comparing quotes, line up the same coverages and deductibles so a lower price has context. This answer is about auto coverage, not a home-policy review, and does not establish what your own policy will pay.
